Seminar: The resolution of the Syrian conflict and the European Union

.: June 19, 2016

The MEP invites you to attend the seminar organized by the Egmont Institute and the IHEDN, on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 9 am, around the resolution of the Syrian conflict and the European Union.

In five years, more than 270 000 people were killed in the armed conflict that affects Syria. Whoever had started with simple anti-government demonstrations suddenly degenerated into a civil war. Today, the European powers appear to remain passive while Russia further strengthens its commitment to the regime of Bashar al Assad, upsetting the balance of forces on the ground.

The seminar will be organized in two round tables:
- The first will analyze the impact of the conflict on the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
- The second will explain the current and potential role of the EU in the resolution of this crisis and the lessons to be learned for the future.

Register online, by invitation only - Simultaneous translation in French.

Wednesday, June 22, 2016, from 9.00 to 13.30 - Egmont Palace, 8 bis Place du Petit Sablon, 1000 Brussels, Belgium.
